This is book is the chosen text of the university where i teach a class on Couples and Family Therapy. Overall, I would give the book a 4.8 (no textbook is perfect), however, I have a bone to pick with this text.The field of psychotherapy is being radically changed by neuroscience/brain science. No person working in the field of psychotherapy should be unaware of the research being done in the effects of our neural wiring on our relationships. There is no reference to research and writings of Daniel Siegel and Stan Tatkin who have written extensively on this topic.Thankfully, the research of the Gottmans is acknowledged and given two pages.If you use this as a textbook supplement it with additional readings for your students. Easy to read, quality info, but it is a bit dated even with the newer copyright date. Many of what the authors present as current research are decade plus old citations.
